Beginnings

Shaffer Sports and Events has built a spotless reputation over our more than 90 years in the temporary structures industry.

From humble beginnings in 1913 to later setting up temporary structures at county fairs and festivals around Coshocton, Ohio, Shaffer Sports and Events has grown to become the world’s largest hospitality tent rental company.

Phyllis and Ted Pappas, prior owner operators of Shaffer, produced over 200 golf, tennis, soccer, football, racecar, air shows, Olympics competitions and other sporting events from 1970 to 2003. The company was purchased by Todd Johnson and his family, co-owner of Houston based event rental company Aztec Events and Tents in 2003.

Golf and Growth

The company grew dramatically in 2004 and 2005 with a large investment in brand new, modernized equipment. With the purchase of Colonnade Events in 2007, another major tent company, Shaffer is currently the largest tent provider to the golf industry.

Over 75 percent of Shaffer’s inventory is less than five years old. We are now capable of producing events with upwards of a million square feet of structure, with one tent or hundreds of tents, polished and perfect down to every square inch. We have more two-storey clearspan structure and more hospitality structure than any other company in the world. We have new flooring, tip-up seating, bleachers, media work stations, furniture, lighting and much more.

People

Our equipment may be the newest and best, but it is our people who really make the difference. Shaffer’s friendly, hardworking and talented staff make the event planning and implementation process smooth and stress free: from providing detailed unique design plans and budgeting advice to the install and dismantle of entire hospitality villages with little or no disturbance to your site.
